The Top 10 Best and Amazing Waterfalls of the World.

Waterfalls are definitely the natural wonders on Earth. Visiting some of these waterfalls below might be a breathtaking experience, since they overwhelm with the stunning sight, as well as a splitting voice.

#1. Angel Falls in Venezuela

Angel Falls is the highest in the world, which falls down uninterrupted for 3,212 ft (979 m). You can visit it in Canaima National Park, which is protected by UNESCO. It is named after its discoverer US aviator Jimmie Angel.

#2. Gocta Cataracts in Peru

Gocta is a perennial waterfall with two drops located in Peru’s province of Chachapoyas in Amazonas, approximately 700 kilometres to the northeast of Lima. It flows into the Cocahuayco River.

#3. Havasu Falls, Grand Canyon, Arizona

The vibrant blue-green coloration of water is due to the high concentration of calcium carbonate. Luckily, the temperature variation for water of Havasu falls is minimal. Throughout the year it offers a pleasant temperature between 21 and 25 degree Celsius.

#4. Jog Falls

Jog Falls, created by the River Sharavathi, falling from a height of 253 meters (829 feet), is the highest waterfalls in India. Before the rainy season Jog Falls is nearly unrecognizable with only a pair of thin streams of water trickling down the cliff. But during the monsoon season the waterfall comes to life and exceeds even Kaieteur Falls in Guyana in terms of height and volume.

#5. Kaieteur Falls

Kaieteur Falls was one of those waterfalls that we bent over backwards to see – and we were sure glad that we did! It was perhaps Guyana’s greatest scenic wonder in our minds as it was where the Potaro River was said to drop some 221m with a width of nearly 100m (though rainy-season dimensions of 741ft high and 370ft wide were often quoted). Indeed, this waterfall sported world class dimensions, but perhaps even more impressive was the fact that the waterfall was in an area that was probably as undeveloped and as pristine as we could recall.

#6. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is probably the most famous in the world. It marks US and Canada border. Niagara is formed of two sections – the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the American side – that are separated by an island. The Horseshoe Falls are more impressive: water here drops 173 ft (53 m), while the American Falls drop only 70–100 ft (21–30 m).

#7. Nohkalikai Falls

Situated near the town of Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on the planet, Nohkalikai Falls is categorized as a plunge waterfall, which means that the water loses contact with the rock as it pours over a cliff on the edge of the Himalayas. The tallest of its kind in India, Nohkalikai is fed by rainwater collected in the forested plateau above, so its volume changes dramatically according to the time of year. In the dry season, the water spills tranquilly into a turquoise-green pool. During the monsoon, the water crashes into a tumult of white spray.

#8. Plitvice Waterfalls

The series of waterfalls that link the 16 lakes of the Plitvice Lakes National Park are what makes this scenic piece of landscape the most popular natural attraction in Croatia. Situated among forested hills near the Bosnian border, the small streams, lakes and waterfalls form an appealing water garden that invites exploration. A series of plank walks, bridges and platforms make it easy to wander the park by foot. Free boat rides take passengers from the upper to the lower lakes where visitors can view Veliki Slap, the country’s tallest waterfall.

#9. Sutherland Falls

Sutherland Falls are located in Fiordland, New Zealand. With its 1902 ft (580 m) plunge it is one of the tallest waterfall in the world. It falls in three cascades, that create this unique landscape. It was named after its discoverer Donald Sutherland in 1880.

#10. Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya is a gorgeous waterfall, located on the Zambia and Zimbabwe border. The water of Zambezi river falls down in a straight line for 354 ft (108 m). It is wide ( 5,604 ft/1,708 m), therefore water spray raises very high and can be spotted from many kilometers away.
